507. Barf ascent - 2nd May 2021
A steep climb on the path up the side of Beckstones Gill. This is the Mountain Rescue suggested route as they get a lot of calls from the route that goes up the scree, past The Bishop. Heaven knows what that route is like because even the route we took up through the trees is very steep although on a clear path all the time. At one point there was a split in the path and we went right while a family just after us went left. Our path quickly disappeared and we ended up in some squelchy bits to get back to the path. By then the family had overtaken us. What we did not know at the time was that they had to scramble up a fairly tricky rockface, which we came down a few hours later. Once out of the trees we crossed the gill and emerged onto this flat meadow before a short walk to the summit.
