770. Koutoubia Mosque - 14th February 2023
Our tour began near the Koutoubia Mosque which is 70m high, one of the highest buildings in Marrakech, and was built in 1158. Rather than stairs, there is a sloping ramp rising to the top which allows a horse to be ridden to the top. Next to the mosque are the ruins of an even older mosque which was slightly misaligned and did not quite face Mecca. The small white building behind the motorcycle is the Khoubba Lalla Zohra. The figures in red in the centre of the picture, are water sellers. They weren't selling much water today, it was around 13 degrees all day.
