Looking over Ullswater from Arnison Crag. A very windy day with speeds of 45mph, gusting to 54mph. We stayed in Patterdale Hotel and decided on this walk today because the cloud was rather low when we looked out at breakfast time. By the time we got to Arnison Crag it had lifted above the top of Place Fell (2000ft) and was just touching the summit of White Stones (2600ft). We managed to stay under it all day but it did mean that we left St.Sunday Crag for another time. The walk up was to the east of the stone wall which provided good shelter from the wind. It only took an hour to get up but it was a bit steeper than this picture suggests. (Wainwright #63, 1421ft)
