After parking at Orthwaite Farm I set off down the small road and then up a footpath running around the western and southern side of Great Cockup. I got chatting to a guy on the path who was out with a long lens hoping to photograph birds of prey. Walking up the side of the fell I got great views of purple heather, up towards Meal Fell. After starting around 1.00 I made the summit of Great Cockup about an hour later. I had the whole fell to myself and only saw 6 other people all day. (Wainwright #87, 1726ft)
