Buttermere comes into view at last as we make the top of Dale Head. Around the summit we had to keep low to the ground to avoid being blown off our feet or over the edge. We were now out of the shadow of the hill and all protection from the wind was gone. From this point onwards it was ferocious, gusting to 54mph.
