After dropping gently we got to the end of the ridge above Mungrisedale where we could see our car on the road to the south of the village. After this point the path suddenly got ridiculously steep as it plunged downwards through gorse and bracken with a very loose surface. Hands and feet were used as we crawled down for the worst stretch.
