18.24 Panorama 653 On Lonscale pike looking north. |
18.26 Mungrisedale Common and the back of Blencathra. I spent a while trying to work out what was casting this shadow. I think its Skiddaw lower man (below little man). It seems to be the right shape but on its own rather more than you might expect. |
18.26 Clouds starting to gather on Skiddaw. |
18.27 Helvellyn, High Rigg and Thirlmere |
18.37 Panorama 654 Back at the main summit and I walked a little way south to see the valley floor better. Its a spectacular and renarkably clear considering the weather that had drifted through when I was in the car park. |
In the southern arc there is presented a scene of magnificence and unsurpassed beauty. Across the wide Vale of Keswick, distant enough to be seen in the correct proportion, stretches the long exciting skyline of Lakeland, from the High Street range round to Whinlatter, with Borrowdale winding its way to the mountains in the middle of the picture: this is a glorious panorama. |
