Usefulness for assessing weather |
Excellent. Wide range of views and different fells. Trees can be seen moving in the wind and rain is often visible. The image can suffer slightly during rainy periods. |
Usefulness in different lighting conditions and times of day |
Excellent. Variety of views means something is always visible even in bright sun or in the evening |
Historical reliability |
Very good |

A spectacular webcam for views of many northern fells. There is a range of views and a zoom picks out details such as the top of Cat Bells and the path up Barrow, where people can sometimes be seen moving. In good light the pictures are excellent. When it is misty or in low light the camera hunts for focus as it switches between the pre-programmed views. It can also be frustrating if you want to study a particular view because it changes between them every few seconds but generally it doesn't get much better than this. |
